On Borrowed Ground
Community Supported Agriculture in Edmonton
"Today
I will take another step
away from the paths of
social injustice
and global destruction."
"On Borrowed Ground" allows you to get your hands in the dirt to help our planet. By buying local and eating seasonally, you help to maintain your families health and well being while contributing a smaller carbon footprint and reducing damage to sensitive eco-systems around the world. Community Supported Agriculture is like a subscription to a magazine. You pay a nominal fee in the Spring, contribute a set number of hours of manual labor each week, and receive produce weekly from local gardens - produce that is grown without chemicals.
We all grow ... healthy ... together
We all grow ... healthy ... together
We borrow gardens within the city and turn them into productive, intensive vegetable plots.
www.onborrowedground.com gives you complete details of the project, with reference letters from members and lenders.
Our mission is Education, Land Reclamation, and Community Building. While you fulfill your participation commitment, you will learn valuable growing information. We consult with and install complete organic gardens, and as a member you can receive this service as part of your membership.
This year I have access to ten gardens in Edmonton. The gardens I plant will be directly related to the number of shares I sell. Shares are available as working (4 hours work per month) and non-working.

"I have been part of 'On Borrowed Ground' for three years now. I am very pleased with the quality and amount of produce (veggies and fruit!) some of which was grown right in my backyard. Anita is a talented and conscientious gardener."
Laura, CSA member 2009 - 2012
I was craving fresh, local food grown in healthy soil, so I joined Anita's CSA. We planted and harvested on land in Edmonton that would not otherwise be productive. We used organic methods and ate delicious food while helping to preserve local food production. Good growing Anita!

We would like to invite interested members to work together on securing and preserving enough local food to make eating local possible throughout the winter, and we will test drive an "It's your turn to cook" where each member prepares one meal using garden produce that is distributed at the same time as the baskets.
Please feel free to forward this to anyone you think might be interested. I really think this CSA is the best way to ensure affordable, chemical free, fresh, local produce, and that will help all of us to Grow...Healthy...Together.
